School Description: iQ Academies at Wisconsin is a public, virtual, charter high school that brings together a comprehensive high school curriculum, technology, and choice together to meet the needs of the individual learner. The staff delivers dynamic, interactive, virtual learning to students and their families, who, for various reasons, need or are seeking a different kind of high school environment. Through iQ Academies, students earn the credits needed for a high school diploma and develop the skills necessary for success in college and the world of work. This multi-faceted approach to high school education equates to a strong learning partnership between parents, students, and their teachers.

The school was chartered by the School District of Waukesha on March 10, 2004and officially opened in the Fall of 2004.

Target Student Population: iQ Academies at Wisconsin is a comprehensive high school program and the curriculum is appropriate for any high school student in Wisconsin . The school is specifically targeting those students who are currently underserved by traditional programs. This population includes, but is not limited to: students who are home-schooled and in need of a school partnership to complete advanced high school courses; students feel uncomfortable or unsafe in a traditional setting due to school phobia, anxiety disorders, or other mental or emotional health issues; students who are homebound due to medical conditions, are school age parents, married students or self-supporting students; students have left school without completing their graduation requirements; students who are involved in professional level athletics or performance arts or family activities that preclude traditional daily attendance; and students who have been separated from their resident district.

Types of Courses Available: iQ Academies at Wisconsin is a comprehensive high school program that offers nearly 100 courses. While many of our courses are in English, math, science and social studies, we also offer elective courses in art, business, family and consumer science, information technology, music, physical fitness, and world languages.

Enrollment Process: Students enroll during the three week Wisconsin Open Enrollment window each February or enroll as tuition students at other times during the school year. In addition to their coursework, textbooks, and instructors, students enrolled in our program have the use of a notebook computer and a printer and they receive a monthly stipend towards the cost of Internet connection.
