Description of School: WISCNET Digital Districts Online (DDO) is composed of School Districts/Agency Members working together as a WISCNET Workgroup in support of online learning options for staff and students. Rather than create a virtual school, DDO works together to offer online services, student courseware, professional development, and consulting services to public and private K-12 school districts.  The goal of DDO is to serve as a quality, convenient and cost efficient one-stop-shop for online learning and to assist both students and staff to be successful within the supportive structure of their home district.

The DDO Workgroup, formed in August 2005, will be working throughout the 2005-06 school year to determine services, process and prices. DDO has two core principles: (1) to supplement existing district programs, not compete with them and (2) to be responsive to and representative of it members and their needs.

Target Student Population: DDO Courses are presently available for grades 6-12 curriculum, with most courses having open rolling enrollment. Student needs addressed by these supplemental options include: credit recovery or accrual, remediation, TAG or Youth Options opportunities, specialized learning needs or styles, expanded curricular opportunities, or diploma completion.

DDO also offers an array of professional development for K12 staff.

Overview of Courses Offered: DDO provides quality courseware and supplemental curriculum, from a variety of vendors, which has been rigorously evaluated and aligned to Wisconsin Model Academic Standards. DDO collaborates with and supports fellow WI online course providers, as well as working with a multitude of additional vendors from around the country.

Core content and elective courses as well as supplemental curriculum products are offered, with courses continually added to the catalog. In addition, DDO hosts a Digital Repository of over 500 learning objects, searchable by content, grade, and WI standard. Visit www.digitaldistricts.org.

Enrollment and Registration Process: Three things are required to enroll students: 1) Identification of a Local Mentor, 2) Assurance of student readiness for online curriculum and 3) Establishing a DDO budget transaction process. Contact Joan Peebles at joan.peebles@digitaldistricts.org for details and assistance.
