Wisconsin
Collaborative Online Network (WCON), a statewide collaborative group
organized to enhance the quality of virtual learning options and
provide greater understanding and information toward the effective
implementation of virtual/ online learning in the state of Wisconsin.
Cooperative Educational Service Agency #9 received a TEACH grant in 2003-2004 to organize this collaborative effort. Stakeholders which met reviewed and discussed standards and policy issues concerning online learning in Wisconsin. Original stakeholders represented the following organizations: CESAs, Wisconsin Virtual School (WVS), Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI), Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB), Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators (WASDA), Appleton eSchool, Eau Claire School District, Legislative Representatives, Kiel eSchool, Madison Public Schools: Dane Districts Online (DDO), Lake Shore Technical College, University of Wisconsin-Madison,and WiscNet.
Several WCON members continue to meet, discuss, and collaborate over current issues concerning online learning and students in Wisconsin through iNACOL's (International Association of K-12 Online Learning) Midwest Forum.
